It started at a tournament
Sideline DJ began with one goal at a hockey tournament. The night before Lyn Bryan’s son played in his first big tournament, they picked his goal song together. Then he broke away and scored. You can read that story on Sideline DJ’s about page.
Tournaments are also where the rest of team life piles up. The hotel poll, the room count, the booking deadline, the venue across town, the dinner for 40, the family who doesn’t know anyone yet. A volunteer team manager holds it all together, usually in a group chat and a spreadsheet, on top of a job and a family.
Sideline Away carries that load, so the manager gets their weekend back and every family gets more out of the trip. We built it as hockey parents, and it works for any youth sport that travels.
What we believe
- Never add work for a volunteer. If a feature makes the manager chase, explain or re-type, it isn’t finished.
- The team travels together. Families do the trip their own way. Agree where the team has to. Choose freely everywhere else.
- Private by default. Budgets, needs and “not this time” are nobody else’s business.
- Make it easy to belong. Open invitations, no pressure, and no lists of who said no.
- Never claim what isn’t true. We don’t say a room is booked unless you booked it, and we don’t track children, ever.
The Sideline Sports Network
The Sideline Sports Network is a small family of apps for the people who make youth sports happen. Each one does a single job very well and works on its own.

One Sideline account signs you in to both. Your Sideline DJ teams and your Sideline Away trips stay separate, and using one app never shares your family’s trip details with the other.
