Short answer: Use both. TeamSnap runs your team’s season: the schedule, messages, availability and payments. Sideline Away plans the away trip: which hotel works for the most families, each family’s weekend, team meals and what everyone’s doing between games. Post the Sideline Away link in a TeamSnap message and families join from there.
What TeamSnap does well
- The season schedule, team messages and payment collection, on its free plan for teams under 15 players.
- Availability and RSVP tracking, bigger rosters and drills on Premium and Ultra.
- A web app and mobile apps, used by a great many teams already. Your families probably have it.
- For clubs and leagues, TeamSnap Tournaments covers registration, scheduling and communication.

Where the trip falls between
We couldn’t find a current hotel or trip-planning feature in TeamSnap’s team plans. That leaves the parts of an away tournament that happen between the calendar and the hotel’s booking link:
- Which hotel?
- Families have different budgets, different numbers of rooms and different views on a pool. Sideline Away collects that privately and shows the manager totals, with drive times to every venue.
- Who has booked?
- The tournament’s booking link doesn’t tell the manager. Families tap “I’ve booked” in Sideline Away, and the manager copies a reminder for the rest.
- When do we leave the hotel?
- Each family sees every game with when to be there and the drive from their hotel. Change a game once and every family’s plan and calendar updates.
- Dinner for 40?
- Each person orders from the restaurant’s menu before the cut-off, allergies stay private, and the restaurant gets one link grouped by jersey number.
- What’s everyone doing Saturday afternoon?
- Pool time, a pro game, coffee for the parents. Anyone suggests; families tap I’m In or Maybe.
Using them together
- The manager posts the Sideline Away link in a TeamSnap message. Families tap it and pick their player.
- Keep the season schedule, chat and payments in TeamSnap. Plan the trip in Sideline Away.
- Game times for the trip are added in Sideline Away in a minute. Moving one there updates each family’s trip plan and calendar.
- Bringing your roster in from TeamSnap is built and switches on when the app opens to everyone; until then the manager pastes the roster or simply shares the link.
