Who we are
Sideline Away is made by Mounthorn Holdings Ltd., British Columbia, Canada, which also makes Sideline DJ. Together they are the Sideline Sports Network. Contact: hello@sidelinedj.com.
What we collect
- Your account: email address, first name, the sport you chose, your role (for example manager, parent or coach), and the date you accepted our terms.
- Your team: team name and sport, players’ first names and jersey numbers, and games or tournaments the team adds.
- Trip answers: whether your family is coming, nights and rooms, a budget range, hotel must-haves, which hotels work for you, optional notes, whether you have booked, and activities you join.
- Who’s coming from your family: the first names of the adults travelling, and for younger siblings an optional first name and an age range (like “under 5”), never a birthday.
- Team meals: what each person in your family is ordering, and an optional allergy or dietary note.
- Travel, only if your family chooses to share it: how you are getting there, spare seats or bag space, and whether you are considering or have booked flights. Never booking references.
- Plans and places: the names and addresses of hotels, venues, restaurants and events a team adds, and the drive and walk times between them.
- Packing lists: what your family has ticked off and any items you add yourselves.
- Calendar link: a private link, made only if you ask for one, that lets your own calendar show your team’s games and your family’s plans.
- Feedback: any message you send us from the app, with the page you sent it from.
- TeamSnap, only if you connect it: the roster (first and last names, jersey numbers) and game schedule. If a manager chooses to invite families by email, the email addresses of team members are used to send that invitation only.
- Technical: error reports when something breaks, so we can fix it.
We do not collect birthdays, photos, payment details or anyone’s location, and we do not track children.
Who sees what
- Your budget, must-haves, hotel answers and notes are private to your family. Team organizers see totals only, with small numbers shown as “a few”.
- Organizers see whether each family has answered and booked, so they can count rooms and send reminders.
- “Not this time” answers are never shown to other families.
- Everyone on the team sees who has joined a plan, listed under the player (for example “#7 Arjun: Arjun, Dev, Maya (under 5)”).
- Allergy and dietary notes are seen only by your family, whoever is running that meal, and the restaurant.
- When a meal’s order is sent, the restaurant gets a private link showing each order under the player’s jersey number, players’ and siblings’ first names, allergy notes, and the first name and phone number (if given) of whoever is running the meal. Parents’ names are never shown to the restaurant. The link can be cancelled and stops working the day after the meal.
- What your family ticks on a packing list is private. The manager only sees how many families are all packed.
- Your calendar link is private to you. It never includes other families’ answers or orders, and you can turn it off at any time.
One Sideline account, separate data
Your Sideline account signs you in to both Sideline Away and Sideline DJ. We keep a record of which apps you use. Your Sideline Away trips and answers are not shown in Sideline DJ, and your Sideline DJ teams are not shown in Sideline Away, unless you choose to connect them.
Emails we send
- Trip emails about your team’s trips, like a hotel decision, a booking deadline or a game time change. These are part of the service.
- News and offers from the Sideline Sports Network, including Sideline DJ, only if you tick the separate box when you sign up or later in your settings. The box is never ticked for you, and signing up never depends on it. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.
Email addresses brought in from TeamSnap to invite families are never added to marketing lists.
This website and cookies
On sidelineaway.com (not in the app) we use Google Analytics to see which pages help teams find us, only if you accept cookies. If you decline, nothing is stored on your device. Advertising features are off. You can change your choice with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page. The app at app.sidelineaway.com has no analytics or advertising trackers.
Who we share it with
We never sell personal information. We use service providers to run the app: Supabase (database and sign-in), Netlify (website hosting), Resend (email delivery), Google Maps (address search, finding a place on the map, and drive and walk times; it receives the places and addresses being looked up, not who you are), Google Analytics (this website only, with your consent) and TeamSnap (only if you connect it). Some of them store data outside Canada, including in the United States.
How long we keep it
- Trip answers, meal orders, allergy notes, who’s coming from each family, shared travel details and packing list ticks are deleted 90 days after the trip ends.
- Feedback is kept so we can act on it, and deleted if you ask.
- Your team stays until the organizer archives or deletes it.
- Your account stays until you delete it. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
Your choices
You can see, correct or delete your information, withdraw marketing consent, or close your account by emailing hello@sidelinedj.com. We will answer within 30 days.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you by email or in the app before the change applies.
