Who we are
Sideline Away is provided by Mounthorn Holdings Ltd., a company registered in British Columbia, Canada, which also makes Sideline DJ. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Mounthorn Holdings Ltd., and “you” means the person using Sideline Away.
1. Agreeing to these terms
By creating a Sideline account and using Sideline Away, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
Your Sideline account also signs you in to Sideline DJ. When you use Sideline DJ, its own terms of service apply to it.
2. What Sideline Away is, and what it isn’t
Sideline Away is a free planning tool. It helps a youth sports team and its families plan away trips, team events and team meals together: who’s coming, which hotel, the weekend plan, meal orders, travel, packing lists and calendars.
- We don’t book or sell anything. We are not a travel agent, hotel, booking company or restaurant. Families book their own rooms, travel and tickets directly with the hotel, airline or tournament, under their terms.
- We don’t take payments. Any money for a meal, a room or an activity is between you, your team and whoever you’re paying.
- We don’t run your team, tournament or events. Your team, club, league or tournament sets its own rules. The people on your team organize and supervise the trip, not us.
3. It’s free
Sideline Away is free for teams and families. If we ever add something paid, it will be optional, we will tell you first, and you will never be charged without agreeing to it.
4. Who can use it
You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to create an account. Players don’t need accounts: a parent or the team’s manager adds them by first name and jersey number.
Sideline Away is for families and the adults who run youth sports teams. Please don’t create an account for a child.
5. Your account
You sign in with your email address and a one-time code or link. Keep access to your email secure, because anyone who can read it can sign in as you. Tell us at hello@sidelinedj.com if you think someone else has used your account.
6. Teams, managers and invite links
- Managers set up the team, add trips and events, and decide who does what. They can make a parent co-manager, confirm coaches and helpers, remove a family, and hand the team to someone else.
- The invite link lets anyone who has it ask to join your team. Share it only with your team. A manager can make a new link at any time, and the old one stops working.
- Managers are responsible for who they let into the team and who they give a role to. If someone shouldn’t be there, remove them.
- If you are the only manager of a team other families use, please hand it over before you leave or delete your account.
7. What you add
You own what you add: your family’s answers, names, orders, notes, travel and plans. You give us permission to store it and show it to the people Sideline Away is designed to show it to, as described in the privacy policy, only to run the service. This permission ends when the information is deleted.
- Only add information you have the right to share. For other people, including players, siblings and other adults, use first names only, and only what the team needs for the trip.
- What you add must be accurate as far as you know, and nothing offensive.
- Some things are shared with your team by default so families can help each other, like your travel plans and who is joining an activity. You can turn travel sharing off for your family at any time. Your budget and hotel answers are never shown to other families.
8. Rides and travel between families
Sideline Away can show which families have spare seats and which need a ride. Any ride is a private arrangement between the families involved.
- We don’t check drivers, licences, vehicles, insurance or car seats, and we don’t arrange or supervise rides.
- Parents decide who drives their children. Follow your club’s, league’s or association’s rules about driving other people’s children.
9. Team meals and allergies
When a team meal takes pre-orders, Sideline Away collects each person’s order and any allergy or dietary note, and the person running the meal sends the restaurant a private link with the whole order.
- Always tell the restaurant about a serious allergy yourself. We pass on what you type, but we can’t make sure the restaurant reads it, understands it or prepares food safely.
- Menus, prices and what the restaurant serves come from the restaurant, not us.
- Paying for the meal is between the families, the person running the meal and the restaurant.
10. Times, maps and suggestions are a guide
Drive and walk times, maps, addresses, packing suggestions and weather-based tips are estimates from other services and can be wrong. Game times and places are what your team adds. Always check the tournament’s official schedule, the hotel’s own booking page and the road before you set out.
11. Activities and plans
Activities in Sideline Away are suggested and run by people on your team, not by us. Joining one is your choice. Parents and guardians stay responsible for their own children at every activity, game and meal.
12. Using Sideline Away fairly
Please don’t:
- harass, bully or embarrass anyone, or post anything hateful, sexual or inappropriate for a youth sports team;
- add someone’s information that they wouldn’t want shared, or pretend to be someone else;
- use the contact details or names you see to sell, promote or advertise anything;
- copy or collect information from Sideline Away in bulk, or use automated tools on it;
- try to get into accounts, teams or data that aren’t yours, or interfere with how Sideline Away works.
13. Other services
Sideline Away links to and works with other services, like TeamSnap, Google Maps, calendar apps, hotel and tournament booking pages, and restaurant menus. Connecting them is optional. They are run by other companies under their own terms and privacy policies, and we aren’t responsible for them.
14. Ideas and feedback
If you send us an idea or feedback, we may use it to improve Sideline Away without owing you anything for it. Thank you.
15. Leaving, and ending access
- You can leave Sideline Away or delete your Sideline account at any time from your account page. We delete trip answers, meal orders, allergy notes, travel and packing ticks 90 days after each trip ends.
- We may suspend or remove an account or a team that breaks these terms or puts other families at risk. Where it’s reasonable, we will tell you why first.
16. Availability
We work hard to keep Sideline Away running, especially on trip weekends, but we can’t promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or error free. Keep the essentials, like the hotel confirmation and the tournament schedule, somewhere else too. We may change, pause or stop parts of Sideline Away. If we ever close it, we will tell you in advance so you can save what you need.
17. Disclaimer
To the extent the law allows, Sideline Away is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
18. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of Sideline Away. That includes anything arising from hotels, rides, meals, activities, travel or other arrangements made between the people using it.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about Sideline Away is limited to CAD $50.
19. Your responsibility
You are responsible for what you add and how you use Sideline Away. If someone makes a claim against us because of what you added or because you broke these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim, to the extent the law allows.
20. Your rights under consumer law
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer protection laws of the province, state or country where you live that can’t be waived by contract.
21. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of British Columbia, unless the consumer laws where you live give you the right to bring them in your local courts.
22. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Using Sideline Away after that means you accept the new terms.
